Life has been getting back to normal for several months now, following the restrictions which were in place here for the best part of two years. Now we can go around without wearing or even carrying masks, shops and services have returned to normal and public transport continues to run without many hitches.
However, in Thalwil we have endured almost continuous roadworks along the nearby streets. This has affected the bus services into Thalwil, there have been traffic lights in various positions along our street, and the roads are being resurfaced and repainted almost constantly. From January 2022, the train services in and out of Thalwil to Zurich, Luzern and Lachen have been rescheduled and not to our advantage.
In addition, an ambitious project to dig a tunnel from the River Sihl in nearby Gattikon to the Zurichsee which is clearly visible outside my window as I type, has been in effect since January 2022. The only evidence of it from here is the view of a tall orange crane which swings from side to side when in operation. Lunchbreaks and weekends are an exception to the presence of workmen or -man. Lakeside parking has also increased noticeably.
In the past two years, we have also gained two grandchildren, one in London and one in Melbourne, Australia. Sadly, we still haven't met our grandson, Felix, in Melbourne, but we have spent several visits, both here and in UK, with Laura, Dan and Cami. And as I type, another grandson is due to arrive to Laura and Dan this weekend.
